Can you recommend a good, inexpensive basic sewing machine?

By admin | December 11, 2009

dorothy asked:

I would like to buy a sewing machine for simple clothing construction - mostly skirts and dresses - and don’t want to spend more than $100-$150. Can you recommend a basic model that is of good quality? I don’t need fancy stitching, computerized embroidery, or any of that stuff.

I have a Brother’s table top sewing machine which was around $100. I use it on all household sewing - repairs, alterations, clothes, pillows. Nothing fancy but it works okay.
