What are the best sewing machines and applique applying machines out there?

Im wanting to start making boutique clothes for my little girls. Im a beginner, but my grandmother is amazing with a sewing machine and said she would teach me. My question is, what are the best sewing machines for sewing boutique clothes and the best machines for applying appliques to outfits once i make them? I want one that I can buy several different templates to use, like different names or pictures. Any info you have is greatly appreciated!
