I am looking to get a sewing machine to put patches on my husbands jeans and to make clothes and blankets for my daughter. Which Sewing Machine should I get? I want one that will last a long time. Where should I get the Sewing Machine? I am looking on Amazon.com right now.

For your purposes, I’d send you to a sewing machine store (not a *mart type place) for a good used sewing machine. Many of the new cheap machines tend to be much more fragile than a similarly priced older machine, and are virtually unrepairable when something goes wrong. If you *have* to have a new lower line machine, I’d send you to look at Janome, as that brand seems to be the leader in the low end machines right now (Kenmores appear to be rebadged Janomes).
FWIW, a machine with stepper motors (the electronics or computerized machines) tend to be able to handle thick fabrics at low speed better than the purely mechanical electric machines.
But any decent household machine should be able to handle a few thicknesses of denim.
