What kind of sewing machine should I get for simple projects?

I recently started to make crocheted dolls and little clothes for them. But their clothes have all been of felt and hand-stitched and I want cleaner results and I want to use fleece. What is a good, inexpensive (about under $175) sewing machine for me?
